Most of our councilors are corrupt and tainted in the first place ! Please show me any clean hand among our members ?

One can't blame these dirty fellows who dare to loot the money in a broad day light. Mr. Kassali Maraikar has made a history in our Municipality by steeling the cheque from the safety lockers and arranged for its clearance from his brother in Gujarat. It is outrageous.

See the status of the member who represent us in the council are supposed to voice our grievances especially the poorest of the poor.

If they dare to loot from the impossibles, such as steeling cheque, think how much amount they could have made from possibles (such as road laying contracts and sundry dealings).

The Chairman should write immediately to the Government (District Collector) to order for a thorough and complete investigation by the anti-corruption agency to get into the depth of the conspiracy so that complete truth should emerge from it. Those who aided and abetted in this brazen loot should bring to book.

Instead of echoing your anger in this column, the community should collectively share responsibility to find young and energetic fellows for contesting the forthcoming election to sweep out this rubbish elements from the public life. If not there won't be any remedy to it.

I'm sure that this only a tip of an ice berg. Everybody knows how most of the other councilors are behaving. An enquiry should be initiated to find out the financial status of these guys, bring out the truth and expose these guys, so that next time we get only good councilors serving the community.

We now know why local tenders are not being announced publicly and how come these tenders go only to guys from outside Kayal.

Today Kasali - who is next?

People of Kayalpattinam must insist for a thorough inquiry into this matter - CBI Enquiry is a better choice. Kayalpattinam Municipalty website gives no much information . The audited accounts published is very obsolete and lacks clarity. The audited accounts must be published every year. Transparency in administration is required now. Present councillors has to get the purifying certificate from the public. For this they can confess all their activities including their assets.

The president - a good man - has marred his tenure because of his councillors. He must be vigilent and implement strong actions. He must act on corruption. He must have defying attitude if something is against the public interest. He must be accessible to public.

Oh! Almighty ! will my dreams be fulfilled/

நம் நகர்மன்றத்தில் இதற்கு முன் இப்படியொரு சம்பவம் நடந்ததில்லை என்கிறார்கள் அது உண்மைதானா? அல்லது மக்களுக்கோ / மன்றத்திற்கோ தெரியாமல் இது போன்று எதுவும் இருந்திருக்குமோ? என்பது கேள்விக் குறியே?????

We are writing this to clarify on couple of points raised by a few on the issue:

(1) Why do we edit some messages, not approve others?

This is because of legal factor. In the cheque fraud issue, the investigations have just begun. The accused are yet to be produced before the court. We are not sure of the full story behind this matter. Hence, to post news or comments or allow certain comments without editing, when the facts are still emerging and what we know are best assumptions, would expose the website to libel charges. It is only a precautionary action.

(2) Why Mr.Kassali's picture is still in the homepage?

We have provided an explanation for this in another news. We will explain again.

We fail to see what is the connection between the interview and the cheque fraud issue? The interview was published on December 29, 2010 (when Mr.Kassali was the Vice Chairman of the Municipality) - long before the cheque fraud issue emerged. And it will be changed when the next set of interviews are ready - which we hope would be by Monday (when interviews with 7 heads of kayalpatnam schools would be published).

Kindly note, by printing interviews in kayalpatnam.com, we are not honouring the person. We are merely bringing out certain information from that person - that would be of relevance and interest to people.

Removing the person's picture just because it turns out he may have committed crime is not appropriate for a media outlet. Though we understand the sentiments behind this suggestion, no media outlet would do such a thing. It simply doesn't make any sense.
