In your reply referred to above, it has been stated that software used in Kayalpattinam
Telephone Exchange doesn't store the details about outgoing local calls. Is that the case with
all the exchanges of Tamil Nadu Circle or pertains only to select exchanges of Tamil Nadu
Circle??
Provision to store local calls exists in most of the new tech exchanges in Tamil Nadu circle.
Though the provision exists, the same is not invoked at present in BSNL as a policy decision
as it requires higher storage and processing capacity in the respective switches due to
voluminous data of call records expected in case of local calls.
What log/data/mechanism you have in place to satisfy a customer who raises complaint about billing
of local calls (in the light of your assertion that details about local outgoing calls are not
stored)?
Selected subscriber line cane be kept under observation based on complaint and all the outgoing
calls made by the subscriber can be recorded. This can be done for a particular period (say 10
to 15 days) asking the complainant to keep a similar log of calls made with date and time for
cross verification of the details to satisfy the customer. The subscribers are also advised to
use dynamic locking facility (in case subscribers with STD facility) and use the current meter
reading knowing facility at 19621 and 19622

inadvertently given as "during the time of commissiong of the facility" instead of 14.06.2007)
