:: EVENT REPORT
The 3rd edition of Meet the State Toppers event was held on the
8th of June, 2008 at Jalaliya Nikkah Majlis in Kayalpatnam.
The program began at about 10:15am. Haji Wavoo S.Cader Sahib (President,
Iqra Educational Society) gave the welcome address. Haji Smart M.S.Abdul Cader
(Treasurer, Iqra Educational Society) gave the introduction about Iqra Educational
Society. Mr.B.A.Syed Mohamed Buhari (Trustee, The Kayal First Trust) gave the
introduction about The Kayal First Trust.
Kayalpatnam toppers in the Tenth and Twelfth Standard public examinations were
given certificates and cash prizes. Certificates were given by Haji Wavoo S.Syed Abdur Rahman,
Chairman, Kayalpatnam Municipality and cash prizes were given by various dignitaries.
This was followed by a speech by the Chairman who was presiding over the event.
The Chief Guest, Honourable Collector of Tuticorin District Dr.R.Palaniyandi IAS, gave
the certificates and cash prizes to State Toppers in the HSC examinations. Ms.R.Dharani
of Kadachanallur Post near Erode and Mr.M.Rajesh Kumar of P.V.Kalathur near Chengalpet
received 5000 rupees each from the Chief Guest. They both had scored 1182 out of 1200 in
the HSC examinations held in March 2008.
The Collector then gave a short speech - felicitating all the awardees.
Dr.Idhrees, President, Kayal Welfare Association, Dammam made announcements about
special prizes. Last year's announcements - student scoring above 1150 studying in
any five of Kayalpatnam schools to receive the prize of a trip with parents to
Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong and student from any five of Kayalpatnam schools
getting the state rank to receive the prize of an umra trip with parents - were
reiterated with a slight modification. In the case of scoring above 1150, there
will be an alternate prize of Rs.75,000/- in cash and in the case of state toppers,
there will be an alternate prize of Rs.1,50,000/-.
Announcement regarding a special prize for Best School to be given from next year was
also made. Dr.Idhrees also introduced The Kayal First Trust's new initiative -
Kayal Dreams Project (www.kayaldreams.com).
This was followed by the interactive session with the toppers - anchored by
Mr.S.H.Shameemul Islam. The session was introduced by Mr.B.A.Syed Mohamed Buhari,
Trustee, The Kayal First Trust. Students from the five Kayalpatnam Higher Secondary Schools
questioned the toppers.
Haji A.R.Thaha, Assistant Secretary, Iqra Educational Society gave the vote of thanks.
