Mr.Syed Ibrahim>It was on the 13th of March, 2003, at a gathering of around 60 kayal brothers in
Jeddah, Sharafiyya, KWA was officially formed
Kayalpatnam.com>What is the geographical coverage area of the association?
Mr.Syed Ibrahim>Initially, our brothers living in Jeddah and Makkah were the members of
KWA. Then the membership was extended to those in Yanbu and Madinah
Kayalpatnam.com>How many members does KWA have? Is there any annual/monthly membership fee?
How does KWA fund it activities?
Mr.Syed Ibrahim>We have approximately 200 members contributing a minimum 10 SR each and
a maximum 100 SR as subscription amount every month. This is the only source of fund for all our
activities
Kayalpatnam.com>What are the objectives and activities of KWA?
Mr.Syed Ibrahim>Our main objective is to wipe out the tears of poor people in Kayal (though it
is not possible completely, at least a few drops . The prevalance of poverty in Kayal is extremely high).
We alone can't eradicate it.
So, we considered the following three categories as most important to extend our help.
*** Medical help
*** Educational help
*** Small Scale self-employment
Kayalpatnam.com>How is KWA structurally organised?
Mr.Syed Ibrahim>All our brothers living in Jeddah, Makkah, Yanbu and Madinah are members of
general body. They elect office bearers and executive committee once every two years.
We are organised with the following setup:
=== Two advisors
=== A president and a vice-president
=== Two joint secretaries and two assistant secretaries
=== A treasurer and an assistant
In addition, we have 17 executive members
In Madinah and Yanbu, we have one representative each
In Kayal, we have two representatives
We convene General Body meetings once every three month and the Executive meetings once every month.
In our monthly Executive meeting, the amount is sanctioned after reading out letters received from various
applicant (the letters should have been authorised by any Jamaat or ‘Sangam’ in Kayal). Our two kayal
representatives are helping us with clarifications and enquiries. They also hand over the amount personally to the
applicant. Approximately Rs.35,000 to Rs.40,000 are sanctioned every month.
Our executive members bear the expenses of the meeting - which are arranged in their houses rotationally. Likewise, the expenses of General Body meetings are covered by the general contribution of our members
(apart from their monthly subscription).
In short, not a single "Halala" is taken from KWA's general fund (made of members subscription). It is
exclusively for the poor people of Kayalpatnam.
Kayalpatnam.com>Do you co-ordinate your activities with other Kayalpatnam related organisations in
Kayal/Saudi/Gulf?
Mr.Syed Ibrahim>We co-ordinate our activities with other kayal associations abroad when their
representatives visit the Holy Land. We are also discussing the possibilities for executing all our
associations' activities from one hub - so as to avoid duplication of dispersing benefit amount from more than
an association.
The purpose of creating Iqra was to bring all our kayal-related associations - elsewhere in the world -
under one umbrella - so as to provide educational help collectively
Kayalpatnam.com>Kayalpatnam is a diverse society with different followings and practices. Has that
at anytime come in the way of your functioning? How do you manage that?
Mr.Syed Ibrahim>Yes, it true that we have our brothers with different religious ideologies, followings
and political factions. But we keep aside all our differences and controversies and join together in
serving the poor people of kayal - aiming the reward of Allah SWT in the hereafter.
This is the secret of the success of KWA - All praise to Almighty Allah (Alhamdulllah). So for, we are
strong in our commitment. Insha Allah, we will carry on this in the future
Kayalpatnam.com>What would you describe as the major achievement of KWA, Jeddah since it came
into being?

+++ More than 150 poor people have been helped
+++ Over 6.5 Lakhs Rupees have been distributed
+++ We contributed Rs.1 Lakh for "Thulir" School
+++ Contribution of Rs.25,000 for the people affected by "Tsunami"
+++ Salary for the Imam who leads the prayer in our Kayal beach - 33 Months = Rs.24,000
+++ Iqra Educational Society was our brain child. In its first year, it has helped 47 students
and Rs.2,60,000 has been provided
+++ Our major achievement so far is KMT's "Al-Haramain Block". A large amount of money was collected and
given for the purpose.. Here I have to mention that our advisor, Mr. Sathakatullah's contribution
was the major one. He is behind many of the achievements of KWA Jeddah
Kayalpatnam.com>What are the future plans of KWA Jeddah?
Mr.Syed Ibrahim>We understand that the categories presently in our agenda for rendering help needs
to be increased. This is under discussion. Increasing help requires more money. So it depends on our
fund collection through our monthly subscription.
We would like to request all our brothers living in different cities in India, such as Chennai, Trichy,
Mumbai, Kolkatta, Thiruvananthapuram etc., also in Sri Lanka - to come forward to form such welfare
associations (in their respective places).
Incoming applications keep increasing. We cannot control the flow of tears from our eyes when we read their
letters because they reflect the condition of extreme poverty. So our dear kayal brothers else where in the
world, try to form such associations - to wipe out the tears of the poor in kayal completely.
May Allah help us to be steadfast in our commitment and bestow His limitless mercies, blessings and rewards in
