Kayalpatnam.com>When and how did Kayal Welfare Association, Singapore come into being?
Mr.Palayam Hasan>
Kayalpatnam Welfare Association, Singapore (KWA) was formed in February 2004.
KWA Singapore was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies, Singapore on
28 September 2004. It has its own constitution.
Our association was formed with the objective of uniting Kayalites under one umbrella and
to make sure that they do not deviate from Kayal culture. Since most of the Kayalites in Singapore
are young professionals and Singapore is a more disciplined country, they needed guidance in Singapore.
We hope our association is having a good control over our Kayalites in Singapore

Mr.Palayam Hasan>
When I came to Singapore in 1995, there were only 4 Kayalites working in Singapore.
With our help, this figure has gone up to 45 today. Our Association has a unique identity
of unity and helping nature for our community among other Indian Associations in Singapore.
Alhamthulillah.
Totally, 25 people have been benefited by our different aids. We have distributed our
aids to the beneficiaries through IQRA. We sincerely thank IQRA Committee members
Kayalpatnam.com>How does Kayal Welfare Association, Singapore fund its projects?
Is it only through Membership fee? How much is the membership fee?
Mr.Palayam Hasan>
Our source of funds is mainly from our members. Our members contribute SGD 10 per month by
way of subscription. Also we have the practice of collecting donations from our members at
every general meeting. They can contribute as much as they can through a sealed envelope.
Approximately, we will get a collection of SGD 500 in every meeting once in three months.
Rarely we collect from other people.
Kayalpatnam.com>How often do you meet?
Mr.Palayam Hasan>
Our General Body will meet once in three months. We meet along with our families at any common
place like Beach or Park. It helps to interact with each other. Our family members are also invited
for the our General Body Meetings. They will interact separately among themselves. Our ladies help
by bringing food from their homes. It is a nice mixture of different tastes. Thanks to our Kayal
Singapore ladies. Once in a year, an AGM will be held to audit and approve the accounts.
Our Executive Board will meet once in two months at our association’s registered office to
discuss about some important issues and to distribute the sanctioned aids.
On the evening of both the eids (Eidul Fitr and Eidhul Azha), our members will gather at my residence.
I am thankful to every member for honoring my invitations. This is not an official meeting,
only a social gathering. Thanks are due to my family members, especially to my wife Mrs Kathija Beevi,
for honouring the guests with delicious food
Kayalpatnam.com>Kayal Welfare Association, Singapore seems to be playing an active role in
helping young professionals to move into Singapore. Could you explain to us career prospects in Singapore?
Mr.Palayam Hasan>
Yes, we are playing a very active role in helping young professionals to settle in Singapore.
Singapore is a very suitable city to settle down. It is a city of mixed culture. Here we can
get our own way of living. It is a multi cultural and multi racial country. Its climate suits
us and we can have Halal food everywhere. More than 50 mosques are there.
Most important, we can get Permanent Residence Status and Citizenship status very quickly.
We can own a house.
There are more prospects for Computer, Civil, Communication Engineers and Accountants. For the
professionals, the Government will issue Employment Pass. After one or two years, the Employment Pass
holders are eligible to apply for Singapore Permanent Resident Status and in another two years time,
they may apply for Singapore Citizenship
Kayalpatnam.com>Explain briefly how our young graduates become successful in finding a job
in Singapore?
Mr.Palayam Hasan>
Professional degree holders in any faculty - with at least 3 years related experience - may send their
resume with their passport size photos to kwasingapore@hotmail.com. Self confidence, determination,
their proficiency in English language and good communication skills will help them to secure a job
quickly.
If anyone desires to search for a job directly by coming to Singapore, they can do so by contacting any of our
members. Insha Allah we will guide them in all the ways.
Kayalpatnam.com>What are the future plans for your association?
Mr.Palayam Hasan>
Insha Allah, to increase the Kayal Working Strength in Singapore to 100 by the end of 2010.
To organise a Medical camp in Kayalpatnam
To organise Career Guidance Seminars and Counselling at regular intervals for our Kayalpatnam students
Kayalpatnam.com>What according to you are the major problems facing Kayalpatnam - that
require urgent attention?
Mr.Palayam Hasan>
We feel very seriously that we are divided in many respects. May Allah unite our Kayalites
together in all aspects. In Singapore, KWA does not encourage any religious debate among our
members.
Upon analysing this year's Higher Secondary Results, we are happy - on the one hand that our girls are
at the peak. On the other, our boys who are supposed to do better than our girls did not perform to
the expectation and the statistics is not convincing. It may cause some social problems. I sincerely
request our boys to perform better which will drive them to a better career.
Another one is career guidance. We fear that our boys do not have proper guidance either from our
parents or from our seniors. We have plans to organise such career guidance program regularly in our town.
Kayalpatnam.com>Are you satisfied with the way Kayal organisations - in India as well
as overseas - are functioning?
Mr.Palayam Hasan>Yes. But they can work better. My Sincere thanks to all the
Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers, Executive Committee Members and other members of all
our Kayal Associations for rendering their services for Kayal communities. May Allah
reward all our services.
Kayalpatnam.com>There has been lot of talk in recent weeks - about bringing all overseas
Kayal organisations under one umbrella - to co-ordinate their works. What are your views on that?
Mr.Palayam Hasan>
Yes. It is a good idea. But I feel that our various Kayal Associations around the world are
not fully utilising IQRA. Instead of forming a new organisation, we can use the one that
already exists (IQRA).
I also suggest IQRA has to be re-structured in consultation with all the heads of the
Associations to serve the above purpose.
At this juncture, I welcome the ideas of Mr Ubaidullah of Hong Kong, Mr M S Salih of
Kayalpatnam.com and Mr SK Salih of Daruttibyan Network on sharing the information
between associations through a common network
