Kayalpatnam.com>When and how did the idea to start V-United come about?
Mr.Ali faizal>
It was 2001, we were inaugurating a Football Tournament in memory of Late Al-Haj VMS Lebbay
(one of the past-presidents of our town panchayat). The idea to create a sports club in order to unite
people in the field of sports came as a spark at that moment.

Later in 2002, myself & SH Habeeb Rahman (Thaika Street) officially registered our club in
Hong Kong and further developed it. Later, A. Ahmad Thasleem (Mohdoom Street) also joined us to
further develop our club. We chose the name, V-United (inspiration for the name came from English
Premier Clubs like Manchester United & New Castle United). V stands for We.
Kayalpatnam.com>What are the activities organised by V-United in Hong Kong?
Mr.Ali faizal>
Since 2002, in Hong Kong, we have organised various sports events for our local communities
& for other nationalities as well. The events we have conducted so far are in Foot Ball, Volley Ball,
Shuttle Badminton, Table Tennis, Snooker, Snow Bowling, Foot Ball Tie-Breaker and Track & Field Athletics
- for both Juniors & Seniors.
The biggest event that we have organised till now is a Multi-National Football Tournament. To unite
different nationalities living in Hong Kong through Football, we organised this tournament with
12 teams from 12 different nations ( India, Pakistan, Nepal, Hong Kong, China, Japan,
South Korea, Cameroon, Nigeria, Turkey, Holland and England). We are currently playing in the FFL
Football League - www.footballforlife.hk
Kayalpatnam.com>What are the activities organised by V-United in Kayalpatnam?
Mr.Ali faizal>
In 2001, we organised our first tournament for clubs & college teams near our surroundings.
Since then, we have conducted 4 more such tournaments in different years in USC, Kayalpatnam. Further,
we organised a Football Tie-breaker tournament in KSC, Kayalpatnam as well.
We plan to conduct more sports events in future, Insha Allah.
Kayalpatnam.com>What are your interests apart from sports?
Mr.Ali faizal>
I have been a keen marathoner. I completed 10 kms in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon in
2007, completed 21.5 kms in the same event in 2008. I have also registered for the 21.5 kms
event in the coming year (February 2009).
Besides sports, V-United actively conducts many social & cultural welfare activities.
In Hong Kong, we arranged a spoken Chinese language course for our
community people through our club. The local language is very much essential for daily life &
important for most of the jobs, here in Hong Kong (which enables easy communication with local
Chinese people).
Kayalpatnam.com>You suffered loss of eye sight. How did that happen?
Mr.Ali faizal>
I came to know about this problem during my second standard. When my parents
consulted with eye specialists at that time, they replied it as a problem since birth.
Kayalpatnam.com>How do you manage to do all the things despite this difficulty?
Mr.Ali faizal>
With lots of self-confident & support from families & friends. Of course,
there is the the grace of Almighty Allah, Alhamdulillah.
Kayalpatnam.com>Tell us about your work.
Mr.Ali faizal>
I am working in the field of money exchange for past few years.
Kayalpatnam.com>Tell us about your family.
Mr.Ali faizal>
I am a maternal grandson of Late Haji VMS Lebbay, past president of Kayalpatnam Panchayat
and paternal grandson of Haji A. Sulaiman. My father’s name is S. Anwar & my mother’s name
is VMS Fathima. I am married with 3 kids. Alhamdulillah.
Kayalpatnam.com>Do you have any message for the natives of Kayalpatnam?
Mr.Ali faizal>
Many of our social community organisations in our town and overseas are doing tremendous and
excellent work for the betterment of poor people & for the upliftment of our society (covering
education, medical & other social necessities).
When considering the sports aspect, although we have plenty of local talent & local clubs, our people
have not achieved any recognisable position in sports. It is due to lack of support & commitment.
Nowadays, it is possible to earn good earnings through sports as well. Besides, we could get into good
educational courses through sports quota too. It (Sports) is good for our own health & would be
beneficial to our family, friends & relatives.
Through our club, we want to encourage more sports activities. We can support any economically
lacking guys to study in the field of sports & we will support them to achieve more in the
professional level in any games or individual sports. Kazhi Alaudeen (who signed up with Mahindra
United) is a real inspiration for our Kayalpatnam youngsters. We want to bring
out more Kazhis from Kayalpatnam.
We need more support socially & economically from our Kayalites all over the world (to conduct more
sports & social activities in our soil).
